have to hand it to the folks at Steak 'n Shake. Their nutritional data breaks out each individual ingredient-I actually get to know when cutting a component is worth it.

After studying the numbers, if I were to custom-order a Steak 'n Shake Frisco Melt, I'd definitely skip the "grilling oil for bread." Apparently, the oil used on the exterior of the sandwich accounts for 30 grams of fat. That's right, 30 grams. That's practically what I eat in a day, and it's on the outside of the sandwich.

One of the other things I really appreciate about Steak 'n Shake is that I was able to watch the cook make my sandwich. I watched him slather 30 grams of "grilling oil for bread" onto my bread in one steady motion by grabbing a slice from the bag and running it over something that looked like a drum rotating in warm oil. From there, my bread practically fell right onto the grill. How amazing is that? Fully 270 calories in one fell swoop.
